The trip will then go south and to the east on US Highway 40 towards Vernal, Utah. This will take you through the Uinta National Forest and by Strawberry Reservoir enroute to Vernal.

From Vernal the trip goes north on US Highway 191 through the Ashley National Forest. As you approach Dutch John, the trip will take you across the Flaming Gorge Dam, stop in at the visitor center. Once in Rock Springs, take I-80 west for a brief trip to Green River.

From Green River you will take highway 530 down the western side of the Flaming Gorge to Manilla and continue on highway 414 to Mountain View, Wyoming. From Mountain View the trip takes you back to I-80 and west to Evanston.

In Evanston is the Bear River State Park which offers fishing, walking trails, kayaking, tubing, and rafting. From Evanston the trip will turn south taking highway 150 along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway through the Unita Mountains. Plan accordingly, as during the winter months a good portion of the road between Evanston to Kamas is closed. Once in Kamas, the return trip is via highway 248 to US Higway 40, north to I-80, traveling west back into Salt Lake City.
